Linn County Jail Roster

The Linn County, Oregon Jail Inmate Roster is a public resource that allows you to learn who is currently in custody at the local correctional facility. LinnCourt.us helps find publicly available information about current and recently released inmates. Additionally, information can be obtained through the official Linn County Sheriff's website, by visiting the jail in person, or by calling the sheriff's line. Searching the roster allows you to check a person's custody status, see the charges filed, and the booking date. The Linn County Sheriff's Office maintains the roster and updates it regularly on their site.

Search Current Inmates in Linn Jail

There are several ways to check if a specific person is in custody at the Linn County Jail.

Online Search

  1. Go to LinnCourt.us to find publicly available information about court cases and records related to inmates.
  2. For searching court cases in Oregon state circuit courts, use the OJD Records and Calendar Search system — it provides free access to court calendars and basic case information.
  3. If the person has been sentenced and transferred to the state system, check the Oregon Offender Search — the Oregon Department of Corrections database.

To search, you will need the person's full legal name (last name and first name). If the booking number is known, it will speed up the process.

Find Linn Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created at the moment a detained person is officially processed into the jail. This process includes photographing, fingerprinting, and registering in the facility's system.

Each booking record contains:

  • A unique booking number
  • Date and time of intake
  • List of charges filed
  • Name of the arresting agency (sheriff, city police, etc.)
  • Basic personal information of the detainee

To obtain copies of booking records, you can contact the Linn County Sheriff's Office with a public records request. For court documents related to the case, submit a request through the Linn County Circuit Court Records page by filling out the standard state records request form.

If you are denied public records from a government agency, you have the right to file a petition to the Oregon Attorney General requesting an order to release public records.

Search the Linn Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The inmate roster supports two main search methods.

Search by Last Name

Enter the person's last name in the search field. You can also specify the first name to narrow down the results. A few tips:

  • Check the spelling carefully — even one letter mistake can prevent finding the desired record
  • Try a shortened name or just the last name if a full search yields no results
  • If the system displays a list without a search field, use the browser's Ctrl+F function (or Cmd+F on Mac) for a quick page search

Search by Booking Number

The booking number is the most accurate way to find a specific record. It eliminates confusion between people with the same names. Usually, this number is provided to relatives during the first contact after arrest.

If the search yields no results, it may mean several things: the person has not yet been processed, has already been released, or the name is recorded differently than you expect. Call the sheriff's office for clarification. To check court cases in Oregon circuit courts, you can also use the OJCIN OnLine system, which contains action registers and court decisions.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Linn

The Linn County inmate roster is updated periodically, but not always in real-time. There can be a delay from the actual booking to the appearance of the record in the online roster, ranging from a few hours to a day — depending on processing time and staff workload.

Main limitations to be aware of:

  • A record may not appear in the roster immediately after arrest
  • After a person's release, their data disappears from the current roster within a short time
  • The roster only shows those currently in custody — it is not an archive of all past bookings
  • Data entry errors occur, so the absence of a record does not always mean the person was not detained

For historical booking records, contact the sheriff's office directly with a public records request. A statewide criminal history check can be ordered through the Oregon State Police, which provides a copy of the criminal report or confirmation of no criminal history in Oregon.

County-level archival documents, including sheriff's records, are stored according to the Linn County records inventory maintained by the Oregon Secretary of State. Note that sheriff's archives are not publicly accessible — to obtain information, you need to contact the sheriff's office directly.
